Ravenous / Writings / Bug Zapper

Don't my poems have such HAPPY endings?

Bug Zapper

I know the night bug lacks will to resist.
Lively dust specks dance in rejoice.
The pleasing hum is a siren’s call.
As they drunkenly flutter forth
The milky violet glow calling their names
Promising passage to an insect’s paradise
It encompasses their vision, mind, and being
Drawing them forth on an iron chain.
And as their desires are sweetly in reach
A flit of electricity.
The traitorous light rejects the wish
And sends the dreamer spinning down
No longer a night bug but a flake of ash.
